Today was spent invigilating at our group show at Generator artists run gallery in Dundee. Apart from the bitter cold I really enjoyed the day. I met some great folk and had some lovely conversations. In particular with PhD student Susie about OOO and her practice based research.
The thing that struck me whilst I was sitting in the gallery and pondering the next exhibition is that if I am going to have living plants in my degree show, they should probably reflect the plants that I use in my work for colour.
I will have to start sowing seed and making lists. So far I have used
Shaggy Ink Cap mushrooms, Bramble stems, Larch cones, Alder cones, Bog Myrtle, Beetroot, copper, Walnut, Turmeric, Indigo, Oak Gall, Silvery acorn.
It was lovely when Malcom (wonderful technician from the FA workshop – who made my boards) and he liked the work and after I became engrossed in talking to someone else, I turned around and saw him smelling the work. It smell fairly compost like. He gave me the thumbs up and said that he liked the smell.
